The vision of UQSRC is to develop and sustain national and international levels of excellence in interdisciplinary social science research and evidence-based policy research drawing on innovative quantitative (and increasingly qualitative) approaches to data collection, data analysis and data modelling.

The hallmark of the work of the Centre is to address basic and applied research questions of national, state and local priority, using high-quality social data of all kinds, and advanced scientific approaches to theory and methodology.

The Centre also provides a vehicle for developing best-practice in research design, data collection, data analysis and data dissemination and makes a major contribution to research training in the social sciences.

One of the aims of UQSRC is to embed the analysis of contemporary social issues within a social and spatial framework. It thus enables new methodological synergies built around integrating survey and spatial data, geographic information systems and applied statistics.

UQSRC employs over 40 staff members plus additional affiliated senior researchers in the fields of political science, sociology, geographical sciences, economics, psychology, education, demography, mathematics and statistics.

The Centre actively engages with the public and private sectors to undertake rigorous, valid and reliable social science research. Our research programs are designed to meet all clients' research needs by combining multidisciplinary expertise, methodological innovation and leading-edge infrastructure in specialist research teams tailored to meet strategic requirements.
